The Humane Connection (HC) Facility Animal Program Guide, written and owned by Vahsh®, LLC outlines the necessary steps to integrate facility animals into organizational settings and expand knowledge of Animal-Assisted Interventions (A-AI), Humane Education, and the human-animal bond. The HC program guide is used as a blue print to create facility animal policy and programing unique to your organization. Licensing agreements for the HC program guide are available to purchase. Please contact us for more information.
The Humane Connection (HC) program guide is the result of the piloted facility animal integration process completed by Vahsh Owner and Operator, Erin Duncan and her dog Blue. The pilot was successfully carried out at Winton Elementary in Coeur d’Alene, ID from 2019 to 2022. In 2022, policy written by Duncan was approved by the school board. Then, in 2024, HC was adopted as official programing by CDA Schools. It is with this pilot program that Vahsh creates ethical, tailor made facility dog programs for interested organizations.
The integration of dogs as Facility Animals (FA), and the expansion of Animal-Assisted Interventions (A-AI) in organizational settings to strengthen the human-animal bond and encourage empathy in learners and educators.
Humane Connection envisions organizations strengthened by the human-animal bond through mutually respectful and trusting engagement.
The primary objective of the Humane Connection program guide is to educate and model respectful, trusting engagement between humans and animals through mutual respect and humane connection. The goals of this program are to increase client empathy, reduce anxiety among participants, and foster community building in public settings.
